Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) is a cell-wall-free bacterium belonging to the family Mycoplasmataceae. It typically causes diseases ranging from mild upper respiratory tract infections to severe pneumonia, being particularly common in children aged 5 to 15, though all age groups can be affected. By adhering to the surface of host cells, this microbe interferes with cellular functions and regulates host cell biology through the release of various toxins and enzymes, leading to illnesses spanning from mild upper respiratory infections to severe pneumonia.

    iGeneTech Solutions

Due to the lack of a cell wall and limited metabolic capacity in Mycoplasma pneumoniae, traditional methods such as culture-based assays, serological tests, or conventional PCR, despite their high sensitivity, rely on known pathogen gene sequences and provide limited genomic information.

iGeneTech has developed probes and kits for Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) based on its proprietary TargetSeq® liquid-phase probe hybridization capture technology and unique microbial probe design strategy. Using 81 full-length MP sequences from the NCBI database as reference, a total of 22,637 probes were designed. Through alignment analysis, highly similar redundant probes were removed, and the remaining probes were retained to cover the entire MP genome—ensuring probe sequence diversity and enhancing capture efficiency and coverage.

Ordering Information of Respiratory pathogens Panel

As of June 2025, iGeneTech has developed over 30 single-pathogen capture probe kits, covering a variety of pathogens that are routinely monitored and prioritized by disease control systems.

We also offer whole-genome capture kits, which include reagents for the entire workflow from sample extraction, library construction to hybridization capture, and are compatible with multiple high-throughput sequencing platforms.

In addition, we can provide customized probe design and detection solutions according to customer needs to meet special research requirements.
