As one of the earliest domesticated animals by humans, pigs are not only the primary source of meat globally but also play an important role in the fields of medical and biomedical research. Pig Whole Exome Panel only sequence exon regions, focusing on variant information in genomic coding regions, thus providing a more effective tool for agricultural breeding improvement, biomedical research, and functional genomics.
Leveraging the independently developed IGT® Oligo Pools synthesis platform and TargetSeq® technology platform, IGT has developed ‘Pig Whole Exome Panel’. IGT Pig Whole Exome Panel is designed based on the 35.8 Mb CDS (Coding Sequence) region of the latest pig reference genome Sscrofa11.1, with a design coverage of over 99.9% for the CDS region and 647,527 unique probes, enabling efficient and uniform capture of the porcine CDS region.
Paired with the TargetSeqOne® hybridization capture system, the Pig Whole Exome Panel can achieve efficient enrichment of target regions, with a capture efficiency of over 80%. An 8 Gb data volume can yield an effective depth of 100×. Additionally, this product exhibits high uniformity performance, with 20% uniformity reaching over 98%. With the same data volume, it can effectively improve the coverage and accuracy of exon detection.

Product Advantages
1. High Target Specificity: Focuses on the whole exome region, directly obtains sequence information of gene CDS regions, with a measured coverage of over 99.5%.
2. High Cost-Effectiveness: Compared with whole-genome sequencing (WGS), whole-exome sequencing has lower costs while achieving both high depth and accuracy.
3. Flexible Customization: Leveraging the self-developed large-scale parallel synthesis technology platform, it can add other regions or enhance exome regions of other breeds according to customer needs.
Product Applications
Molecular breeding of pigs, such as population genetic improvement, functional gene mapping, economic trait evaluation, breed identification, paternity testing, etc.
Medical and biomedical research, including research on xenotransplantation, construction of human disease models, gene function annotation and regulation, etc.
To date, IGT has launched over ten animal and plant whole exome products, with more whole exome products under development. All products support full customization and semi-customization.
